CHARLESTON, Ill. (WAND) – The full-scale recovery in the City of Charleston is ongoing after a devastating EF-2 tornado tore through on Wednesday.

City streets are open and public works employees were busy removing debris throughout the city.

Residents are piling branches, tree limbs and brush on their front lawns for public works to remove them by the truckload. Residents can also bring branches and brush to the city’s leaf and limb drop-off site. It is located on West Madison Avenue, west of the Coles County Fairgrounds.

The City of Charleston asked residents to keep fire hydrants clear from debris. They are also asking for help keeping storm drains clear.

Most of the city's power has been restored; however, some linemen were observed working on lines Monday morning.
