DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — The Illiana VA health Care System will receive infrastructure improvements after the Department of Veterans Affairs realigned an additional $800 million this fiscal year to repair and update aging technology.

The extra money will be spent on a variety of improvement projects at VA health care facilities across the U.S., including Danville's facility.

Improvements include replacing air handler units, EHRM infrastructure upgrades and project support services.

"This is another step forward in our efforts to make VA work better for the veterans, families, caregivers and survivors we are charged with serving," said VA Secretary Doug Collins. "Improved facilities, equipment and infrastructure help improve care for veterans, and these additional funds will enable VA to achieve that goal."

The Department of Veterans Affairs said the funding is coming from VHA reform effort savings.
