DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - An item turned into Decatur firefighters, prompting a bomb squad coming to the scene, was found to be a road flare. 

Decatur police said a person was cleaning out their home and found the flare. It was then brought to the fire station. 

When authorities were unsure of what the item was, they called on the University of Illinois Bomb Squad. 

Officers responded to the station, located at 1415 N. Water St., to secure the area and keep people away.
