CHAMPAIGN, IL- A man accused of opening fire at a Champaign mall is now behind bars.
Dontrell Thompson, 22, was released from Carle Hospital in Urbana Saturday afternoon and taken directly to jail.
Thompson has been under arrest since May 3rd, two days after the shooting at the Market Place Mall.
Thompson was shot by Champaign Police officers after he allegedly refused to stop shooting at 28 year-old Tony Brock of Champaign.
Thompson is charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm. He is expected to be formally arraigned later today.
