LEXINGTON (25News Now) - The McLean County Coroner has identified the person who died in Saturday’s officer-involved shooting on Interstate 55 near Lexington.

Coroner Dr. Kathy Yoder says 37-year-old Trayvon Little of Springfield died at the scene.

Preliminary autopsy results show Little died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Toxicology results are pending.

In a statement released Saturday, the Illinois State Police says troopers responded to a call of shots fired on I-55 northbound near Lexington around 12:45 PM Saturday.

Preliminary information indicates two vehicles had pulled over, and were on the shoulder of the interstate. Once officers arrived, they saw someone shooting at the other vehicle. The subject then pointed a firearm at officers. Gunfire was exchanged with the subject, who was fatally struck. There were no other injuries.

In a statement, ISP says according to the Police and Community Relations Improvement Act and the Illinois State Police Law, special agents of the Illinois State Police Division of Internal Investigation are investigating the incident.

ISP is currently processing evidence and conducting interviews. Once that is completed, it will be sent for review to the McLean County State’s Attorney’s Office.

No other information is available.
