URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - An Urbana police officer was hospitalized and others had to be evaluated for potential drug exposure after responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle early Monday.Â
Just before 2 a.m., police were called to the 1200 block of South Vine St. for a suspicious vehicle.Â
Officers made contact with two people inside. During the investigation, officers were exposed to an unknown liquid or substance. One officer lost consciousness an was rushed to the hospital.Â
More officers on scene were evaluated for potential exposure. All officers were treated and later released.Â
Both people in the vehicle were taken into custody. A 51-year-old man was arrested on an initial charge of possession of a controlled substance. A 35-year-old woman was arrested on initial charges of possession of a controlled substance and obstructing a peace officer.Â
