SHELDON, Ill. (WAND) - A Newton County, Indiana Sheriff's Deputy, who was killed in the line of duty will be returning home on Thursday.
The Newton County Sheriff's Office shared an update Tuesday afternoon on Facebook, stating Corporal Brandon Schreiber would not survive his injuries. The post said his sacrifice will present the opportunity for him to help many other people through organ donation.
Corporal Schreiber was shot in the line of duty on September 1, 2024 in Sheldon, Illinois while assisting the Iroquois County Sheriff's Office.
On Wednesday morning, a law enforcement memorial procession was held for Schreiber in Champaign.
The Watseka Police Department posted the schedule for a procession that will bring Schreiber from central Illinois back home to Indiana.
