DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — WAND's annual Spirit of Giving toy drive is coming up on December 6. It is successful because of generous donations and dedicated volunteers.
One of those volunteers is Alan Engdale. He's been volunteering to unload toys from vehicles for nearly a decade.
“It’s overwhelming. I mean they just come rolling in. Sometimes trucks, sometimes we have to get two or three people in the back of a truck just to unload everything,” Alan told WAND News. “Just to make sure that every kid has a present, or a gift, or toy, or something to open at Christmas. Because the way things are now a days there’s not a lot of families that can afford that.”
People can donate new unwrapped toys at the following locations on Dec. 6.
WAND Studios (904 W. Southside Drive | 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
Walmart East (4625 E. Maryland Street | 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
Melanie Schelling - State Farm Insurance (3350 N Water St B | 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
