SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — The Illinois Senate unanimously passed a bill Thursday to increase awareness of agriculture education programs.
The Illinois State Board of Education could be required to submit a report on the status and availability of agriculture education programs on or before March 1, 2027.
"The report may include trends, challenges and barriers, opportunities for expansion and recommendations to better align agriculture education with workforce and post-secondary opportunities in agriculture and agribusiness," said Sen. Doris Turner (D-Springfield).
Senate Bill 3326 now moves to the House for further consideration. The House companion bill passed unanimously out of the House Education Policy Committee last week and awaits action on the House floor.
