UPDATE: 10:15 PM SUNDAY
Illinois State Police say two people died in the crash near Neoga.
The crash happened just before 5:30 pm Sunday.Â
State Police tells WAND News, a semi was traveling north on the interstate and ran into the back of the vehicle in front of it.
Officials say, two people in the back of the vehicle hit died at the scene.Â
The driver and the front seat passenger were flown to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
The semi driver was not injured.Â
Traffic is still being re-routed at the I-57 split near Effingham.Â
No word on when the Interstate will reopen.

(WAND) — Illinois state police are on scene of a fatal crash on Interstate 57 near Neoga.
In a Facebook post, ISP Troop 9 says, traffic is being diverted at the I-57 split near Effingham.Â
The crash investigation is still underway. But I-57 will be shut down for an infinite amount of time.Â
Drivers are asked to take an alternate route.Â
