CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - A man charged with stabbing two firefighters and an EMT during a September 2025 mental health call has pleaded guilty.Â
According to Champaign County court records, Trevor Lewis will face 25 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections with sentences running concurrently.Â
He will also receive credit for 266 days previously served.Â
Champaign Police said that first responders were called to Neil Street and Buena Vista Drive on Sept. 4 because Lewis was experiencing a mental health crisis.
Police said Champaign Fire and Arrow Ambulance came to transport him to the hospital, but shortly after they had called for help, saying they were being attacked and stabbed.
CPD rushed to the scene, where they found Lt. Courtney Moravek, firefighter Robert Poynton and an EMT with serious injuries from a stabbing.
All three first responders survived their injuries.Â
