CLINTON, IL- The Clinton School District has made it official: a major renovation will happen at the town's high school.

Unit School District 15 will spend more than $650,000 to add new lighting, furniture and carpeting to library and commons areas. The district estimates the total cost will be about $2 million after more renovations next summer.

A new multi-million dollar elementary school is also in the works. Voters approved a referendum to re-issue bonds to pay the $16-million price tag for the new school.

Superintendent Jeff Holmes says construction on the high school will start during summer break and the district will break ground on the new elementary school next year.
