CHICAGO, Ill. (WAND) — Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was named the Bears' Offensive Player of the Year by ChicagoBears.com Wednesday.

The number 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft made a big leap in year two under new head coach Ben Johnson, setting a Bears single season passing record with 3,942 yards and ranking fifth in the NFL with a 27-to-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Williams helped the Bears rally to win seven games they trailed in the final two minutes, the most by an NFL team since at least 1970. He also helped the team to its first playoff win since 2010.

"I'm really encouraged about the steps he took this year," said Johnson. "I'm Caleb Williams' number one believer. I have a lot of faith in him, what he's capable of doing, and the player that he's still striving to become."

Williams started every game for the second straight season, the first Bears quarterback to accomplish that feat in back-to-back years since 1978.
