ORLANDO, Fla. (WAND) - The Citrus Bowl was the final stamp on an incredible season for Illinois Football and capped off an impressive turnaround for Luke Altmyer.
After losing the starting gig in 2023 to John Paddock, Luke Altmyer thrived in 2024.
The Maxwell Award semifinalist finished the 2024 season with 22 passing TD's and 6 interceptions.
Although Luke Altmyer found his fit this season, he was not sure he was ever going to back in the spring.
"I remember last spring questioning if I honestly wanted to do this anymore, just battling things and an identity crisis" said Altmyer. "I can't give enough praise to Jesus. I prayed all year that it would be me and him on that field and his presence was more than I could even expect.
Even more good news for Illini fans, Altmyer announced last month that he will be returning to the Orange and Blue in 2025.
