CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - Illinois Men's Basketball looks to pad its stats Monday night against UT Rio Grande Valley, with a pair of ranked squads on the schedule over the next week.
Following the loss to Alabama at the United Center, the Fighting Illini rebounded nicely with a 98-58 win over Long Island University. Star guard Andrej Stojaković led the team with 20 points, while guard Keaton Wagler added 19. The Illini scored a season high 68 points in the paint against the Sharks. Meanwhile, the Vaqueros are coming off a 74-67 loss at Missouri State. UTRGV is 2-3 on the year, with wins over Southern Utah and SW Adventist.
Illinois has won all five previous games in the series, with the most recent coming in November 2021 when the 14th-ranked Illini won 94-85, per Illinois Athletics.
