CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - Illinois quarterback Luke Altmyer was named the Paul Hornung Player of the Week as the most versatile player in college football after a thrilling 34-32 win over USC.
Altmyer accounted for four total touchdowns (2 passing, 1 rushing and 1 receiving) and 359 yards of offense in the win on Homecoming weekend.
He is the first Illini QB to have a passing, rushing and receiving touchdown in a game since Kurt Kittner in a 1999 bowl game against Virginia, per a press release from Illinois Athletics.
Altmyer led the Fighting Illini on an 8-play, 51-yard drive, which culminated in David Olano's game-winning 41-yard field goal.
Illinois will travel to face Purdue at 11 a.m. Saturday on the Big Ten Network.
