CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - Spring Football gets under way for Illinois on Wednesday.
Crazy to think about right? The Citrus Bowl feels like it was just yesterday,
Whenever a team has a long, successful season/postseason, players need time to heal up.
20 Illinois roster players will not take part in Spring Ball as they deal with postseason injuries. Many of them being starters like Miles Scott, Xavier Scott and Kaden Feagin.
Because of those injuries, class schedule complications and renovations at Memorial Stadium, there will not be a Spring Game this year.
I think every year is going to be a little bit different," Bielema said. "I love the spring game because I've always played it ones against the world, and I've really liked that. Looking at it with 18 of 22 starters that we have coming back, there's almost half those guys who won't be participating in spring ball. I just didn't want to have that diluted version out there to put on in a game."
