Maroa-Forsyth falls against Wilmington 42-6 in 2A state championship

NORMAL, Ill. (WAND) - Maroa-Forsyth finished as state runner-ups for the second consecutive year in the IHSA Class 2A football state championship, losing to Wilmington 42-6. 

It's the Trojans 10th appearance in the state title game in the last 19 years. Maroa-Forsyth entered the postseason as the #9 seed, finishing the regular season with a 7-2 record. After opening the postseason on the road against #8 Chester with a 26-14 win, the Trojans would outscore opponents 117-24 in the next three games on their way back to the championship.

Maroa-Forsyth graduates 11 seniors, who during their time as Trojans, saw the team win 47 games.
