CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) -- Makira Cook is making history becoming the first Illinois women's basketball player to be named to the Nancy Lieberman Top-20 Preseason Watch List.
Cook is entering her senior year at Illinois and fourth season under Shauna Green.
She averaged a team best 18.3 points per game and totaled 125 assists last season while starting in all 30 games.
Fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting, presented by Dell Technologies, in each of the three rounds starting Friday, Oct. 20. In late January, the watch list of 20 players for the 2024 Nancy Lieberman Award will be narrowed to 10, and then in late February to just five. In March, the five finalists will be presented to Lieberman and the Hall of Fame's selection committee, who will select a winner.Â
