(WAND) -- Central Illinois woke up with widespread showers and even a few rumbles of thunder early Sunday morning.

By the afternoon, some hometowns saw a bit more sunshine, but everyone had to deal with gusty winds that reached upwards of 40 mph.
 
Spring is known for its rain and the end of March into the beginning of April does not disappoint.
 
WAND Meteorologists expect the ongoing active weather pattern to continue.
 
Numerous rain opportunities are expected over the next week alone with multiple chances for thunderstorms to develop.
 
This week's rain will hopefully eliminate the fire weather concerns that have loomed over the area that past couple of weeks.
