Chief Meteorologist Jim Kosek talked about hazy skies and how the wildfire smoke will reach central Illinois Thursday evening.
While the smoke is still expected to extend into Illinois, air quality issues become a concern, especially the farther north you live.
But what can be a benefit of having hazy skies? The sunsets and sunrises.
Due to smoke in the sky, short wavelength colors such as violet, blue, and green become scattered. Meanwhile, long wavelength colors like red can penetrate the smoke.
This will give Friday's sunset an exaggerated reddish orange appearance (see above), giving photo-enthusiasts a great chance for a fiery sunset.
Do not forget to submit any photos you take of the sunset. You can do this by uploading to https://www.wandtv.com/sendit/
