SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — The "Get your licks on Route 66" adoption tour will soon stop in Springfield.

Fido Friendly Magazine's annual adoption tour started in Los Angeles and followed Route 66 to Chicago. It will stop at PetSmart off South Veterans Parkway in Springfield on September 24th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The tour will also be stopping at shelters to support adoption events. The APL's mobile adoption unit will be featured in Springfield. Organizers say the 30-foot trailer contains a generator and a climate-control system so cats and dogs can travel safely and comfortably. It can safely transport 25 dogs and cats.
