SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The University of Illinois Springfield will host a special star party to view the Perseid meteor shower later this month.
The watch party will take place from 8:30-10 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Lincoln Memorial Garden in Springfield.Â
Those attending the event should park in spots available just off E. Lake Shore Drive, and the viewing will happen in Cawley Meadow, which is across the street.
Participants are urged to bring bug repellent, weather-appropriate clothing and lawn chairs or blankets for seating.Â
