URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - The Carle Foundation Hospital campus will soon take on a new look near Lincoln and University avenues.

The building that currently houses Carle Health Pulmonary Rehabilitation and the Carle Auxiliary Resale Boutique will be taken down.

The rehabilitation unit will continue services uninterrupted as it moves to a new location at Carle in Champaign on Curtis before the end of the year.

The Carle Auxiliary Resale Boutique will close permanently on Dec. 20, 2025 after more than 13 years.

Nicholas Cropmton, vice president, Construction and Facility Services at Carle Health said, "Given the ever-changing demands of healthcare, it is our obligation to evolve in order to serve patients effectively. The buildings have outlived their lifespan, and we are committed to maintaining a high-quality experience for patients and families."

The Auxiliary opened the Resale Boutique at 810 W. University Ave. in 2012. Proceeds supported the Carle Auxiliary Guest House for families with patients getting critical care at Carle Foundation Hospital and educational opportunities for healthcare professionals.

"The Auxiliary is part of our legacy as an organization, and we're grateful for those who have given their time to the Carle Auxiliary Resale Boutique," said Eric Toliver, director, Auxiliary & Volunteer Services. "We're confident those same volunteers will bring their enthusiasm to other efforts organized by the Auxiliary, and the Carle Auxiliary Guest House will remain well positioned to be an important resource for families in their time of need."

The Guest House will be continue to be supported through proceeds from sales at the Auxiliary gift shops and Auxiliary fundraisers. Much of the funding comes from donations to Carle Health Center for Philanthropy from current and past guests and community members and organizations.

As part of the demolition plans, two mostly vacant buildings at 809 W. Park St. and 808 W. University Ave. will also be removed.

The Resale Boutique will continue accepting donations of fall/winter apparel as well as holiday decorations and household items until Dec. 20.
