DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Decatur police say they have arrested one man in relation to an Easter Sunday shooting. DPD is still looking for a second shooter.
According to information the police gave, officers found 21-year-old Lebran M. James on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds when they arrived near Oakland Avenue and Main Street.
After speaking to witnesses, officers say James recognized a man standing on the sidewalk before pulling a gun and shooting at him and another person.
The two ran for cover, and neither of them were shot.
Another witness confirmed to police that James was the one who was on the ground when they arrived, and officers are still investigating who shot him.
Police found a gun in a nearby trash can after a witness said he hid the gun because James asked him to.
James appeared in court on Thursday, and was denied pretrial release. His initial charges are aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of weapon by a felon and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
He will return to court on May 14.
This is a developing story.
