CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - Two people were arrested for their role in a shooting that killed a 16-year-old in Champaign last month. 

Champaign police arrested a 17-year-old Tuesday on an unrelated firearms charge that was upgraded to first-degree murder. Robby Mathis, 21, was arrested Wednesday and will also face a first-degree murder charge. 

According to Champaign police, officers responded to reports of shots fired just after midnight June 6 along Cynthia Drive. Police arrived to find 16-year-old Trai’Vvone Wesley shot.

Wesley was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Despite the arrests, the investigation is ongoing.
