A man was arrested for aggravated battery after an apparent stabbing in Decatur.

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A Decatur man accused of stabbing another man during a weekend argument appeared in court Tuesday.

Morgan Russell, 60, was arraigned on three counts of aggravated battery during his court appearance.

According to a sworn statement, police were called to the Sundown Lounge on North 22nd Street just after 11 p.m. Sunday.

When officers arrived, they found a 54-year-old man who was stabbed in the abdomen. Police said he was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police said the surveillance footage showed the victim arguing with Russell, who often goes by his middle name, "Tracy."

The sworn statement said the victim told police "Tracy stabbed me" before going to the hospital.

Police said the footage also showed others trying to break up the argument before Russell appeared to stab the man.

Police said Russell left the bar after the stabbing with a woman in a truck. Police tracked down the truck and found it at the woman's house.

The sworn statement said police saw the clothes Russell wore in the surveillance footage in plain view through the front door of the woman's home. Police said officers also saw a sheath that could belong to a knife.

Russell was denied pre-trial release Tuesday and is due back in court on July 30.
