DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — An Indiana man was sentenced to 14 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child in Danville.

The Vermilion County State's Attorney said 27-year-old Keontae Crenshaw of Whitestown, Indiana pleaded guilty to predatory criminal sexual assault Friday.

According to the state's attorney, after being confronted by the victim's father, Crenshaw contacted the Danville Police Department in April of 2023 and confessed to sexually assaulting a minor in 2017.

During an interview with police, the victim confirmed that the assault happened while she was under the age of 13 and that Crenshaw was 17 or older at the time. 

Crenshaw was sentenced to 14 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. The sentence will be served at 85% and Crenshaw will serve a term of mandatory supervised release from 3 years to natural life, as well as mandatory lifetime sex offender registration.
