COWDEN, Ill. (WAND) - A 54-year-old man from Mattoon was found dead in Cowden, according to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.
Officers received a 911 call around 9:46 p.m. Wednesday night, regarding a shots fired disturbance in the 300 block N. Grand St, in Cowden.
Shelby County Deputies and Cowden Police responded to the call.
Upon their arrival, police discovered the body of Chad Perry, 54, from Mattoon, who had been shot.
Deputies arrested Trent Buchanan, 56 of Cowden, for involuntary manslaughter.
No formal charges have been filed at this time.
The investigation of this case is ongoing by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
Perry's body was transported by the Shelby County Coroner to have an autopsy completed.
