SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Police have made an arrest in the shooting death investigation of Calvin Bell.
Springfield police arrested Emmanuel K. Watts, 38, of Springfield on March 8, for first degree murder, aggravated battery, discharge of a firearm and possession of drugs and weapons by a convicted felon.Â
According to Springfield Police on Saturday at 2:03 a.m. officers responded to the 800 block of Stevenson Drive for a report of a large fight.
Police said, as 911 was taking the call gunshots could be heard in the background.Â
Upon arrival police found Bell suffering from a gunshot wound. An autopsy was performed on Monday that confirmed Bell died from the wound.
Watts is currently in custody of Sangamon County Jail and is awaiting formal charges.
