RANTOUL, Ill. (WAND) - A Rantoul school bus driver arrested for predatory criminal sexual assault has been denied pretrial release. 

According to Champaign County court records, 35-year-old Johnnie McClendon Jr. was denied pretrial release 

According to Rantoul police, McClendon was arrested around 6 p.m. on allegations of predatory criminal sexual assault following an investigation.

Police said McClendon was employed as a bus driver by First Student, Inc., which provides transportation services for the Rantoul City School District.

Additionally, police stated the arrest appeared to be unrelated to his position with First Student.
