Firefighters put out large garage fire in Urbana

URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - Firefighters were called out for a large garage fire in Urbana Sunday night.

The Urbana Fire Department was called to the 1200 block of Hill St. at 10:16 p.m. Sunday.

A detached garage fire was heavily involved in fire with the flames threatening nearby structures.

Firefighters were able to use hose lines to protect the surrounding structures and power saws to access the garage and safely isolate utilities.

The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes, but crews remained on scene for about an hour and a half making sure all hot spots were out.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
