DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) – Danville Area Community College’s (DACC) Adult Education program will shut down permanently on Sept. 30, 2026, after state and federal funding was completely eliminated due to severe financial mismanagement.
An Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) report released today cited a pattern of fabricated test scores, missing attendance records, and misappropriated funds under former program administrators. DACC is now required to return nearly $147,500 in misused grant money.
The closure ends a 60-year-old program that serves more than 400 Danville-area residents annually with a budget of over $500,000.
DACC President Dr. Randy Fletcher, who took office in August 2025, initiated a six-month internal investigation after discovering irregularities, including online courses where students were enrolled but received no instruction for over three years. Fletcher immediately self-reported those findings to state officials and law enforcement.
In response, the DACC Board of Trustees has hired an independent firm to conduct a comprehensive five-year forensic audit. Local police and state authorities are continuing their investigation.
