Homeowner escapes house fire in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - A person escaped a house fire in Springfield Sunday night.

The Springfield Fire Department was called to the 1600 block of E. Glenn around 9:30 p.m.

The homeowner was home at the time of the fire but was able to escape on their own. No injuries were reported.

The Springfield Fire Department said the fire started in the back of the house, but the cause of the fire is still being investigated.

The house is a total loss, and the homeowner has been displaced.

Firefighters said there were no working smoke detectors in the house.

Emergency crews cleared the scene at 11 p.m.
