DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur Rotary Club is giving kids a new way to pick up and read more books.
The club installed a free book vending machine at Sangamon Valley Primary School.
Students earn tokens through reading milestones, good behavior, or class recognition.
They can use the tokens to choose a book from the machine.
"It's really important for us to be able to help younger children to learn to love to read. And I think the ability for them to have access to books and an incentive to read is really important, especially here at the primary grade level," said Decatur Rotary Club President Paul Lidy.
This is the second book vending machine the group has installed for central Illinois students.
