Boil order issued

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — The city of Jacksonville issued a boil order Sunday night after a "disruption in the water system."

According to the city, all properties within the city limits located on Westgate Avenue and all areas west of Westgate Avenue are under a boil order effective immediately.

The city said it is a precautionary measure due to a disruption in their water system.

Affected residents and businesses are advised to boil tap water for at least one minute before drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth, and use bottled water if boiling is not possible.

The boil order will be in effect until water quality testing confirms the system is safe. The city said it will issue an update when the order is lifted.
