CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) — Champaign County Sheriff Dustin Heuerman announced he will run for a third term as Sheriff in 2026.
He has served in the role since 2018.
During his time as Sheriff, Heuerman helped navigate the Sheriff's Office through Covid, oversaw major infrastructure projects at the Sheriff's Office and County Jail and enhanced the use of technology for more efficient and effective operations.
"Being successful in the role of Sheriff involves building partnerships with community stakeholders so we can make a real impact in our community," Heuerman said. "It requires putting stubborn politics aside in the name of serving everyone in our community as best as we can. I believe I have proven during my time as Sheriff that I have the ability to do this."
