SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — The city of Springfield has adjusted its waste collection hours due to the extreme heat.
The city's office of public works said for the week of July 6, Republic Services, Lake Area Disposal, and Waste Management can begin daily collection at 5 a.m.
Residents are encouraged to put their waste and recycling containers at the curb the night before their scheduled collection day.
The office of public works said the schedule change helps collection crews work safely in the extreme heat.
