Police: Woman cut with knife in armed robbery

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A coroner’s jury ruled Marcqui Apholone’s death was a homicide.

The 25-year-old was gunned down near his own home back in November. Apholone was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 2100 Block of E. Whitmer St.

The Macon County Corner, Michael Day, says the jury deliberated only for a few minutes before they ruled the case as a homicide.

“The gunshot wound in the back continued into the neck and involved the carotid artery, which was independently and rapidly lethal,” Day said.

There has not been an arrest made and no official charges have been filed. The investigation is still ongoing.
