WARRENSBURG, Ill. (WAND) - Black Friday means the unofficial start to the holiday shopping season. As you get ready to buy gifts for everyone on your list, local businesses are asking you to consider checking out their selections, over the big box stores.

"It makes a huge difference to us," said Aryn Callarman, co-owner of the Perfect Pair. "We're local, our vendors are local, the money stays local. You're not just supporting us and our families, but you're supporting our vendors and their families, too."

The Perfect Pair is home to more than 40 vendors. Most of the vendors live in the Central Illinois area. Callarman said they are very dedicated to ensuring they have quality products for everyone.

"We have a strict criteria where everything needs to be made locally, be super unique, or need to have really clean ingredients," said Callarman. "We have a grocery area... clothes, furniture, antiques, home decor, homemade items, puzzles, games, skincare."

While it may be tempting to buy things online, the owners try to make the in-person shopping experience as easy as possible.

For the start of the shopping season, the Perfect Pair is hosting a Small Business Saturday event on the 29th from 10am to 2pm. There will be extra vendors at the shop. The next day, they are hosting a Secondhand Sunday event, where anyone who purchases a secondhand item will be entered into a drawing for a gift-card.

The Perfect Pair is located at 266 IL-121 in Warrensburg.
