Glenn Jones

URBANA, Ill. (WAND) – Deputies say a Pesotum man sexually assaulted someone when they were a child and stalked a second person.

Investigators claim 60-year-old Glenn C. Jones molested a boy, who is now an adult, between Aug. 1988 and May 1989. The News-Gazette reports Champaign County State’s Attorney Julia Rietz learned about it while investigating the possible sexual assault of a woman during her childhood.

Jones is accused of molesting the girl at his house. She says that person - also an adult now -  told her what happened on Sept. 14, but added that charges can’t be filed in that case because the woman didn’t report it soon enough.

Jones is facing two aggravated criminal sexual abuse charges over the accusations of molestation from the late 1980s. Investigators filed charges after interviewing that victim. Jones could serve anything from probation to seven years in prison if the court system finds him guilty of those charges.

Deputies say the stalking charge stems from Aug. 2017, when a man started putting a light on his flagpole to make sure his flag could be seen at night. They say Jones became angry about it and started parking in ways that would sometimes shine headlights into the man’s house as he watched and kept doing it through September of this year.

Jones could face up to three years in prison for the stalking charges if he’s found guilty.

The News-Gazette says a psychiatrist has to examine Jones and check if he can stand trial. His case is continued to Oct. 18 to create time for that appointment.

His bond is set at $250,000 in Champaign County.
