DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) -The Vermilion County coroner has identified a 38-year-old man, who was shot and killed Sunday afternoon.

Coroner Jane McFadden identified the victim as Eric C. Bell of Danville.

Around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Vermilion County Sheriff's deputies were called to the 1300 block of 2nd Ave. They found Bell dead with gunshot wounds. 

Deputies developed a suspect and suspect vehicle during an investigation. 

A Danville Police officer found the suspect vehicle going north on Bowman Ave. at Winter Ave. and made a traffic stop at the Dollar General in Bismarck. That is where 45-year-old Tyrone Watkins was arrested at 3:57 p.m. and charged with first-degree murder.

An autopsy is to be conducted Monday evening. The Danville Police Department and the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate.

All people charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
