DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - A Cicero man has pleaded guilty to armed robbery in Vermilion County.

Jose Quintana pleaded guilty to armed robbery, a Class X felony. He was sentenced to ten years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Quintana will serve 18 months of probation following his sentence.

The People presented evidence that on September 21, 2024, officers with the Danville Police Department responded to the Dairy Queen on North Vermilion Street for a report of an armed robbery. 

Witnesses told police a man came into the restaurant, pulled a gun on employees and demanded money. The manager handed over cash to the robber who then fled the scene. The defendant was identified through surveillance video and descriptions provided by witnesses. He was found a few days later. The gun was not recovered.

State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy said, “I would like to extend my appreciation to the brave witnesses whose detailed accounts were instrumental in helping law enforcement identify and apprehend this defendant. Armed robbery is a serious and dangerous crime that threatens the safety of the residents of Vermilion County. My office remains committed to working alongside law enforcement to hold violent offenders accountable and ensure our neighborhoods remain safe."
