Pawnee High School students ahead of the curve in STEM

PAWNEE, Ill. (WAND) - Teachers at Pawnee High School are working hard to ensure their students stay ahead of the curve.

“We kind of run it as a facilitator versus a teaching. We kind of let them take the reins and look at the problems they need to solve, we encourage them to talk to their peers first before they come and talk to us.” said STEM Co-Teacher, Brandon Hott.

Here, teachers make an emphasis on STEM topics but also keep lessons fun and exciting for students.

“It really promotes like out-of-the-box thinking, hands-on application, it gets students in our program out of their desks away from being buried in a screen.” said STEM Teacher, Lisa Bolsen.

Students like Emma Selhime say the class is something more play than work. But in the end, it provides more than just physics and engineering.
