DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur Police Department is asking for help finding the person they said killed a mother and stabbed two children.Â
A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of Latonian D. Johnson. An arrest warrant has been issued for Johnson for First Degree Murder and two counts of Attempted Murder. Â
On August 20, at 9:47 p.m., the Decatur Police Department responded to a report of an injured person at a home in the 1900 block of E. Main Street. Officers found three victims suffering from apparent stab wounds. The victims were a 38-year-old woman, identified as Dawnette Sigmon, and her two children, ages 14 and 16.
During a verbal fight which turned physical, police said Johnson took a knife and began to stab Sigmon. Johnson also stabbed the two children as they attempted to help their mother, police said. Johnson left the scene in his personal vehicle. Sigmon died at the hospital.Â
