RANTOUL, Ill. (WAND) — Nothing beats a good soup and sandwich for lunch.
"It's all in the butter..." says one volunteer, as he butters up ten pieces of bread to be made into grilled cheeses. "You got to get those nice grill marks!"
The kitchen, nestled behind a cozy dining area, is full of laughs as the team of volunteers help make lunches to serve to the community.
"We realized, within the community, that people were utilizing food pantries quite a bit. We were hearing more and more about food insecurities..." shares Mike Roberts, Executive Director of Seek and Find Ministries.

United Way shares that approximately 11% of Champaign County residents are food insecure. Those numbers lead Roberts, and the organization, to want to make a difference where they can.
That's when they opened Chapel Café, located at 233 N. Garrard in Rantoul.
Every Saturday, from 11:15am to 1:00pm, the cafe serves a hot meal to whoever is in need. The meals include a warm soup, a sandwich, bag of chips, and a beverage.
"It's just a beautiful thing to be able to share that with the people that really need it..." says volunteer Ann Stoll, as she helps hand out lunches to guests.
As the months get colder, Roberts invites those in need to come have a hot meal. Weekends, he shares, are a harder time to find food; especially, for children.
"During the school year, children can get a warm meal during the day. On the weekends? Who knows."
Seek and Find Ministries hopes that this is a way to help feed more people across Champaign County. For more information on the cafe and ways to volunteer, click here.
