DECATUR, Ill (WAND) — The announcement that Health Alliance will be ending most healthcare plans by 2026 has left community members scrambling, debating on where they should turn to.Â
State Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet)Â is also looking for answers.
"I wish I had answers, I don't, but we're trying to get them. And I've already talked to CMS, the meeting is set for Tuesday of next week to to try and figure out where they're going to go in open enrollment," said Rose.Â
Nearly 200,000 people are losing their health insurance. And 600 people are potentially losing their jobs.Â
"I was actually told by Carle to be clear that apparently there's going to be job opportunities for people to get education that's paid through the Carle organization to get retraining, relocated, and make the jump across the street from Health Alliance to Carle. Again, I mean, you talked to 600 people, how many people can make that jump," said Rose.
Health Alliance and FCC employ more than 600 team members.
According to an email from Carle Health, "Health plan team members will be offered career development opportunities to support them in their transition, including paid training opportunities and free tuition to start new clinical or clinical support careers at Carle Health. We are committed to providing timely information so that affected team members understand the support mechanisms in place as we continue to serve members even after coverage has ended."
Current health plans will continue to roll through 2025. In the meantime, users may need to start looking for an alternative health insurance.
