SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The Springfield Fire Department has appointed Nick Zummo as the new Fire Chief. 

On Wednesday, the Fire Department congratulated Zummo in a post on social media.

The post stated "With years of dedicated service, leadership, and a deep commitment to keeping our community safe, Chief Zummo is the right person to lead the department into a strong and resilient future. We’re proud to welcome him into this new role and look forward to seeing the continued excellence and integrity he brings to the job every day."
