Springfield Rotary Club donates oranges to food pantry

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The Rotary Club of Springfield donated nearly 11,000 oranges to the Central Illinois Foodbank.

The Rotary Club paired up with the Springfield Sunrise Rotary Club and offered the option during their annual citrus sale to purchase a box of oranges to be donated to the food bank.

The Rotary Warehouse Manager, Bill Smith, says the Rotary Club has been donating oranges to the food bank for six years.

"Part of our mission in rotary is to help charities in our community, and hunger is an important part we want to provide," Smith said.

In total the Rotary Club donated 108 40-pound cartons of oranges.
