SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Former women's basketball coach for Millikin University Olivia Lett will be named the new head women's basketball coach for University of Illinois Springfield. 

University of Illinois Springfield Athletics will name Lett as the new head women’s basketball coach during a news conference Monday afternoon.

Since 2018, Lett has led the women’s basketball program at Millikin University in Decatur. Her appointment is subject to approval by the U of I Board of Trustees.

During her tenure at Millikin, Lett earned a 105-48 record and guided her team to the NCAA Tournament in 2022, 2023 and 2024. The Big Blue secured CCIW Conference Titles in 2021, 2022 and 2023 under her leadership. Before her role at Millikin, Lett served as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball program at the University of Chicago, earning recognition as the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Assistant Coach of the Year in 2018.

Coach Lett grew up in Pana where she was a standout high school player. From there she went on to play at Illinois Wesleyan University where she helped lead the team to the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championship.

Once her position is approved, Lett will officially assume her role as UIS Women’s Basketball Head Coach-designate on June 3.
